Radicava (edavarone) is a medication used to treat adults with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a disease where motor neurons gradually die, causing muscle weakness and shrinkage. It belongs to the antioxidant class of drugs and works by reducing oxidative stress, which is thought to contribute to motor neuron damage in ALS. By protecting motor neurons, Radicava may help preserve muscle function.
