Glaucoma
Glaucoma is an eye condition that damages the optic nerve, leading to vision loss or blindness. The optic nerve is crucial for transmitting visual information from the eye to the brain. This damage is often linked to high eye pressure, though glaucoma can occur even with normal pressure. While it can affect people of any age, it is more common in older adults and is a leading cause of blindness in those over 60. Many forms of glaucoma have no early warning signs, and vision changes are often unnoticed until the condition reaches advanced stages.
