Empaveli® (pegcetacoplan)
for Paroxysmal Nocturnal Hemoglobinuria
Empaveli (pegcetacoplan) is an immunosuppressant used to treat adults with paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (PNH), a rare blood disorder. Given as a subcutaneous infusion, Empaveli works by binding to complement protein C3, preventing its activation and the subsequent breakdown of red blood cells. This helps stop both intravascular and extravascular hemolysis, reducing the harmful effects of PNH. Empaveli is the only treatment targeting C3, working higher in the complement system than other PNH therapies.
