Nonalcoholic steatohepatitis NASH

Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a condition where excess fat accumulates in the liver, affecting individuals who consume little to no alcohol. It is most common in overweight or obese people. NAFLD can range from mild fatty liver (hepatic steatosis) to a more severe form, nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), which causes liver inflammation and damage. NASH can progress to cirrhosis (severe liver scarring) and even liver cancer, similar to the liver damage caused by heavy alcohol consumption.
