Atgam (lymphocyte immune globulin anti-thymocyte) is an immunosuppressant that weakens the immune system to help prevent organ rejection, such as after a kidney transplant. It works by lowering the immune response, which can otherwise attack the new organ. Additionally, it is used to treat aplastic anemia, a condition where the bone marrow fails to produce enough blood cells.
