Avonex® (interferon beta-1a)
for Multiple Sclerosis
Avonex (interferon beta-1a) is used to treat relapsing multiple sclerosis (MS) in adults, including clinically isolated syndrome, relapsing-remitting MS, and active secondary progressive MS. It works by binding to cell receptors and reducing the activity of immune cells that attack the myelin sheath, thereby decreasing inflammation in the central nervous system. Avonex is an interferon and immunomodulator that helps suppress the autoimmune response in MS.
