Avycaz® (ceftazidime and avibactam)
for Urinary Tract Infection
Avycaz (ceftazidime and avibactam) is a combination antibiotic used with metronidazole to treat complicated stomach infections in adults, children, and premature babies born at least 31 weeks or later. It also treats complicated urinary tract infections and pneumonia in hospitalized patients. Ceftazidime kills bacteria by preventing cell wall formation, while avibactam, a beta-lactamase inhibitor, blocks bacterial enzymes that reduce ceftazidime's effectiveness, allowing it to work properly.
