Benlysta® (belimumab)
for Lupus
Benlysta (belimumab) is used with other medicines to treat active systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) or lupus nephritis in adults and children 5 and older. It works by blocking BLyS, a protein that helps B cells survive. In lupus, overactive B cells produce harmful autoantibodies. By reducing B cell activity, Benlysta helps lower autoantibody levels, reduce flares, improve symptoms like fatigue, and control the immune response.
