Butrans (buprenorphine) skin patches are used for around-the-clock treatment of moderate to severe chronic pain that is not controlled by other medications. Buprenorphine, an opioid pain medication, works by partially activating opioid receptors, producing effects similar to other opioids like morphine, thereby reducing pain. It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your healthcare provider.
