Copaxone® (glatiramer acetate injection)
for Multiple Sclerosis
Copaxone is an immunomodulatory agent used to treat relapsing forms of multiple sclerosis (MS) in adults, including clinically isolated syndrome, relapsing-remitting MS, and active secondary progressive disease. Its exact mechanism is not fully understood but may involve modifying immune processes that cause MS. Copaxone contains glatiramer acetate, a combination of amino acids that resemble myelin proteins, acting as a decoy to divert immune attacks away from nerve fibers.
