Injectafer (ferric carboxymaltose injection) is used to treat iron deficiency anemia, a condition where the body lacks enough iron to produce healthy red blood cells. This can result from poor nutrition, poor absorption of iron, or long-term blood loss. Ferric carboxymaltose is an injectable form of iron for individuals who cannot take oral iron due to side effects or lack of effectiveness. It is also used for anemia caused by chronic kidney disease or heart failure.
