Opsumit® (macitentan)
for Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension
Opsumit (macitentan) is used to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) by lowering blood pressure in the lungs, which helps the heart pump blood more efficiently. It improves exercise ability and helps prevent the condition from worsening. Opsumit works by blocking endothelin-1, a substance that causes blood vessels to constrict, thus reducing lung blood pressure, lowering the risk of symptom progression, and reducing the need for hospitalizations due to PAH.
