Pantoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor that reduces stomach acid production. It is used to treat erosive esophagitis caused by gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) in adults and children aged 5 and older, typically for up to 8 weeks. Pantoprazole is also used to manage Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and other conditions involving excessive stomach acid.
