Tecfidera® (dimethyl fumarate)
for Multiple Sclerosis
Tecfidera (dimethyl fumarate) is used to treat relapsing forms of multiple sclerosis (MS) by reducing relapses, delaying disability progression, and slowing brain lesion development. It helps reduce inflammation and nerve damage caused by the immune system attacking the myelin sheath. While the exact mechanism is not fully understood, Tecfidera is thought to work by activating the Nrf2 pathway, which helps protect against oxidative stress through its active ingredient, dimethyl fumarate (DMF) and its metabolite, monomethyl fumarate (MMF).
