Trokendi XR® (topiramate)
for Migraine
Trokendi XR (topiramate) is an anticonvulsant used to prevent certain seizures in adults and children 6 and older, including partial-onset, tonic-clonic, and Lennox-Gastaut seizures. It’s also used to prevent migraine headaches in adults and teens 12 and older. It does not treat migraines once they begin. Trokendi XR is thought to work by blocking abnormal brain activity and calming overly excited brain cells, though its exact action in migraine prevention isn’t fully known.
