Velphoro (sucroferric oxyhydroxide) is a phosphate binder used to reduce high blood phosphate levels in dialysis patients with chronic kidney disease. It prevents hypocalcemia by binding dietary phosphate, aiding removal through stool. Lowering phosphate helps protect bones, prevents harmful mineral buildup, and may reduce heart disease and stroke risks. Its iron component isn't absorbed by the body.
